What choices of cover do you offer?

The choices are: Buildings, Contents and Personal Possessions. (Personal Possessions can only be included in your policy if Contents has already been selected). Further information is contained in the Policy Summary and Policy Document.

Why do I need Home insurance?

If you have a mortgage it will almost certainly be a requirement of the mortgage company to have insurance for the buildings. Home Insurance will provide you with ‘peace of mind’ knowing that your buildings and contents are covered against events such as theft, fire and flood. Further information is contained in the Policy Summary and Policy Document.

What is the difference between buildings and contents?

Buildings insurance covers the structure of the home together with its fixtures and fittings. Contents insurance covers the contents of the home, items that you would take with you if you moved home.

Do you have any Combined Cover discounts?

Yes, if you insure both Buildings and Contents with us, you will benefit from a reduced premium.

What cover is available for my PC?

Your PC will be covered for selected events as part of Contents cover. If you want cover outside the home, for example, for a laptop or notepad, you will also need to choose ‘Personal Possessions Cover’.

What cover is available if I work from home?

Providing you only carry out clerical or administrative work at home the Policy provides up to £10,000 of office equipment within the home under the Contents section.

How do I go about making a claim?

We have a 24 hour, 365 days a year Claims Helpline. The telephone number is 0870 010 8888.

All the details on making a claim are in your Zuricare Assistance booklet. If you do not have a copy of this booklet, call us on 0800 0966 233, or contact your broker, and ask for a copy.

What do I do if I urgently need Emergency Assistance?

If you have an emergency and urgently require a tradesman you can call our 24 hour Zuricare Assistance line on 0870 010 8888 and we will arrange for a local approved tradesman to be sent out.

You will be expected to pay for any work undertaken but if the damage is covered by your insurance policy Zurich will reimburse you for the costs less the policy excess.

I’m not sure what my buildings ‘sum insured’ is. How do I find out?

This is the cost of rebuilding your property. If you’re not sure we advise that you look at a recent property survey, use the Association of British Insurers cost calculator or contact us.
